E-Book 101

What?  An e-book is simply a book in electronic form. It can be read on your computer, I-pod, mobile phone, an e-book reader like the Kindle, or any other product that can open a file.

Where?  An e-book is usually purchased on the Internet at the publisher’s site or at an e-book bookstore, such as Fictionwise.com or Amazon.com. They are also sold on CD.

How?  Once you purchase an e-book you will

a) Download the book’s file to your computer with the click of a button at the purchase website or

b) Have the e-book sent to you in an e-mail that will open and download by following simple step by step directions. E-books usually come with a password needed to open the file. It will be given to you when you buy the book.

Who?  E-books are IN. Everyone is reading them: on their way to work, in the doctor’s office, even at the beach. You don’t have to be a technology genius to buy, download, and read an e-book. Publishers and authors are always available to help.

Why?  E-books are a reflection of change. They are environmentally progressive, making less of an impact on our natural resources. They are generally much less expensive to buy than hard copy, saving you money. Hundreds of books can be stored in the palm of your hand and you can take them anywhere.

TIP! Many online bookstores offer free e-books. Try downloading a free e-book to become familiar with the process before you actually purchase a new release.
